Some groups listed below are for specific subgroups of parents. Be sure to read the descriptions to make sure the group you choose is a good fit for your situation.

Below are several bereavement support programs available outside of the IDCSC. Not every program works great for everyone, so don’t be discouraged if the first group you try is not a good fit.

First Candle is one of the most well-known and well-established groups providing bereavement support for parents who have lost a child to SIDS or SUID. They have several options for seeking help and participating.
Alive Alone is a parent support organization for parents who have lost their only child or have lost all of their children.
The SUDC Foundation provides support for families that have lost a child to unexplained or unknown causes from 1-18 years of age. They are one of the country’s most w.ell-known and well-established for this kind of loss
Compassionate Friends has several great bereavement resources. Notably, they have over 30 different private bereavement Facebook groups for those who may want to read and slowly integrate.
